Dizzy Heights for Volleyball Hopefuls
Sporting Giants
Sheffield, England, 5 Mar 2007 - Following UK Sport’s ‘Sporting Giants’ launch on Tuesday, 27th February, 3000 applications have been submitted from tall sportspeople hoping to make the dizzy heights of the sporting programmes involved, including of course, Volleyball and Beach Volleyball.
Many domestic clubs may also benefit from the promotion of the sport and recruiting players within their region could provide an influx of volleyballers in recreational teams, local leagues and even up into the National Leagues and squads.
If you’re interested in finding a club in your region, please use the check out the Club Pages on the NIVA Web Site:

UK Sport will be running a series of testing events to identify the different abilities of those submitting their details. Throughout the process British Volleyball will be providing updates and findings.
Alex Porter was one of the Volleyballers representing the sport last week in Trafalgar Square and said “It’s an amazing opportunity for those people who have the height advantage and athletic capability to potentially join an Olympic programme in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics.” Around 3000 people already agree with this sentiment by providing their details to UK Sport.
Some are curious as to how this initiative will truly create future Volleyball stars, but personal profiling has been successful in identifying future stars in other countries. UK Sport’s aspiration is to identify those who can give any boost to the sports involved.
There are opportunities for those players already playing Volleyball who think they have what it takes for the GB programmes and the British Volleyball Try-Out form is available to complete by clicking the following link:
