Ulster Jordanstown Men Win Volleyball Varsities

The Ulster Jordanston men's volleyball team defeated Queen's Belfast in the final of the Irish Volleyball Varsities being hosted by Limerick on Saturday 22nd Nov.

Ulster defeated Cort IT and Queens defeated Univeristy College Cork (UCC) in the men's semi finals to set up an all Northern Ireland final.

The Ulster team went ahead 2-0 and looked comfortable to take the title in 3 sets altough Ulster faltered at 20-20 and allowed Queens to get back into the best of 5 set match at 2-1.

Queens took the fourth set to bring the game to a deciding 5th set for the fourth year in a row.

Queens went ahead 8-6 at the change of ends altough Ulster were the more composed team eventually taking the set 15-12 to win the title for the 3rd time in 4 years.

In the women's final UCD were going for their 8th straight title but UCC defeated them 3-1 to take the women's title.

Next year the Varsitites are to be hosted by UCC.
