The Shell Livewire Sponsored UU Volleyball team became the first ever team from Northern Ireland to compete in European Club competition in 2005/06 after competing in the European Top Teams Cup.
The team defeated VC Lorentzweiler from Luxembourg 3-0 in both the home and away legs of the 1st round draw. The team then travelled to Switzerland and finished 4th in the second round tournament.

Ulster Corona Extra Men's Volleyball Team continued their winning form by defeating top of the table Trinity College Dublin 3-1 on Saturday.
It was the second match in a week for the Ulster team who had also defeated Queens University Belfast 3-1 on Wednesday night.
Against Trinity the Ulster team easily took the first and second sets, 25-16 and 25-18 before Ulster's opposite hitter Tom Napier had to leave the match to attend a friend’s wedding.
Ulster's middle hitter and captain Nick Wright moved into the opposite position and Tony Liken filled in the middle hitting position for the third and fourth sets.
The Corona Extra Invitational which was held at the University of Ulster at the weekend attracted teams from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Holland.
This was the first year the Corona Extra Invitational was held and the University of Ulster Volleyball Club who hosted the tournament hope to make it a permanent fixture in the sporting calendar. Everyone who took part in the tournament commented on how good they thought it was.

The University of Ulster Men’s Volleyball team have been drawn in the first round of the European Cup against Lasa-R from RIGA in Latvia. The first leg of the fixture will be played in Latvia on the 29th September whilst the home leg will be played at the University’s Jordanstown Campus on the 6th October.
UU are ranked higher than their Latvian rivals thanks to their successes in the European Cup in the 2005-06 season when they defeated Lornetzweiler from Luxembourg 3-0 in both the home and away 1st Round matches becoming the most successful team ever from the UK to compete in the European Cup.

The 10-0 University of Ulster Women's Volleyball Team claimed the Northern Ireland 1st Division Title with a 0-3 win over 2nd placed 7-2 Civil Service during the week.
UUJ needed only 1 win from their last 2 games, both against civil service, to claim the title and set up a play-off against the winners of the 1st Division in the Republic of Ireland to gain promotion and join their men's team in the elite Premier 32 All-Ireland League.
UUJ's 0-3 win over Civil Service with set scores of 19-25, 8-25, 9-25 maintained their dominance of the women's league this season. UUJ haven't lost a single match along the way to their league title and have only dropped 4 sets all year.

In the All-Ireland Premier Volleyball League, 7-4 UUJ defeated 1st placed 9-2 Aer Lingus Jets at the weekend at the University of Ulster's Jordanstown Campus.
It was an enthralling match for UUJ's last home game of the season with Aer Lingus taking an early 1-6 lead at the start of the 1st set. This lead proved too much for UUJ to overcome and were always behind in the set finally losing it 22-25.
The crowd got behind the home team in the 2nd and 3rd sets and spurred on by the support UUJ's big hitters showed their class.

UUJ defeated cbphoto.ie from Limerick 3-0 on Saturday to set up a top of the table clash this coming Saturday against DCU at home.
UUJ looked comfortable throughout the first set taking it 25-16 and never showed any sign of letting up the pressure of hard serving and huge blocking, as they took the 2nd and 3rds sets 25-20 and 25-19. UUJ’s David Hamilton did most of the damage leading all kills and blocks.
The match was played in front of UUJ's biggest home crowd of the season as over 100 fans turned out to support the team. The players all commented after the game that the home crowd made a huge difference.
